How does the Clutch for the Stark Varg work?

The power signal from the throttle and the clutch signal from the clutch lever run into the RARE control unit. There throttle and clutch are combined and, as one precise power signal, sent to the Varg.

The right hand's primary role is to hold on to the bike, not to fine-adjust sensitive throttle output. On standard electric motorcycles, a single degree of throttle input can make the difference between traction and wheelspin. In contrast, the left index finger, more independent from holding on, enables ultra-precise clutch control - faster and more responsive than twisting the throttle with your wrist. Your right hand sets the available power, with the clutch you decide how much and how fast it reaches the wheel.

Now, riders can preload the power - and through the clutch - release it in an instant. One quick finger release is simply faster than a full throttle twist. Intuitive Feedback.

An audio signal indicates the level of throttle input, adding a crucial layer of intuitive feedback. This lets you know how much throttle power is available when the clutch is pulled - comparable to the RPMs of a combustion bike. The sound and the volume are fully adjustable and the speaker is only ON when the clutch is pulled, preserving one of the greatest advantages of electric motorcycles - their silence.

Turning the throttle leads to a shift in body position. If you have a clutch you only set the available power with the right hand but control it with your left index finger. This allows you to maintain the right body position in all riding maneuvers.

 After the clutch is installed, all system cables and data are routed into the RARE Control Unit. Meaning both the CLUTCH SIGNAL from the clutch lever AND the POWER SIGNAL from the throttle now run into the CU.

Acting as a traction control the smoothness of your throttle response can be adjusted. Filtering out shocks from roots and rocks results in a much more seamless and predictable motorcycle response.

Physical lever position.

Adjustability for your exact ergonomics. The lever position is adaptable to your individual hand size and finger length – delivering optimal control and fatigue-free performance.

Clutch engagement range.

After you set the physical lever position, the ENGAGEMENT RANGE of the clutch is fully customizable in your clutch settings. There you can now define the bitepoint and the endpoint of your clutch.

Flywheel effect.

With combustion bikes there’s a delay from throttle input to the final power output. And since a lot of you have perfected riding gas bikes, we want to make the switch from combustion to electric even easier. That's why in the settings of the RARE Clutch you will find the flywheel effect.

  • Volume — and in the future, also the sound played — can be fully customized.
  • The sound can be set to always on or only when the clutch is pulled.
